Cross Flow Membrane Filtration
Model # MF 25
Description:
The MF 25 employs a high-pressure pump to circulate product from a vessel to the filtration assembly, with straightforward on/off control. A backpressure valve adjusts the transmembrane pressure, with a maximum allowable system pressure of 40 bar (analog pressure indicator). Standard filtration assembly utilizes polymer membrane filters (90mm diameter), with included sample filters for microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF), and reverse osmosis (RO). Additional filter options are available upon request.
This enhanced unit boasts computer control, data logging, and diafiltration capability. It features an electronic pressure sensor measuring filtration pressure (0-40 bar) and an electronic temperature sensor (thermocouple) gauging retentate temperature. A feed pump speed controller allows for variable retentate cross-flow velocity over the filtration membrane. An electronic mass balance measures the mass of collected permeate, facilitating diafiltration using a peristaltic pump and high-level sensor. The software can specify the mass of permeate collected before water/buffer addition (batch diafiltration). Data from these processes are logged for analysis, enabling plotting of permeate flow rate over time to determine the impact of variables (filtration pressure, cross-flow velocity, product temperature, and diafiltration) on process performance. Communication with a PC (not supplied) occurs via an internal USB interface.
